Editorial Policy

How HelloWeb approaches accuracy, technical sources, practical analysis, attribution and corrections in its website-building and operations coverage.

HelloWeb publishes practical guidance for site owners, small businesses, ecommerce operators and hands-on web managers. Our aim is to explain what a website system is doing, what a setting changes and what to do next. Coverage includes website fundamentals, WordPress, domains, DNS, hosting, SSL, migrations, performance, maintenance, ecommerce, analytics and web design decisions.

Accuracy and useful coverage

Articles focus on a clear reader task or decision. Factual statements should have a reliable basis, while recommendations and judgments explain the evidence and tradeoffs behind them. We distinguish confirmed behavior from reasonable interpretation, and describe unresolved troubleshooting ideas as hypotheses rather than established causes.

Technical instructions aim to explain the practical effect of a setting, not merely where to find it. When software behavior depends on a version, configuration, hosting environment or publication date, those conditions should be identified so readers can judge whether the guidance applies to their site.

Sources and attribution

For technical claims, HelloWeb prioritizes current documentation from the relevant platform, hosting provider, software developer or standards body. Product specifications, prices, policies and service capabilities should come from current first-party material where available. Secondary sources and community reports can add context, but do not by themselves confirm a technical cause.

Source identity is stated when it helps readers understand a claim. Vendor specifications are presented as published specifications, not as measurements made by HelloWeb. A documented firsthand test or live-site case study should identify its scope and relevant conditions. Case studies examine the current experience and draw reusable lessons rather than assuming one example applies to every website.

Opinion, visuals and corrections

Editorial opinions are reasoned conclusions based on the available facts, practical consequences and the reader’s likely task. Illustrative artwork is used as illustration. Screenshots and other documentary material should accurately represent the identified source and the relevant point in time.

Material errors should be corrected when identified. To report a possible error, email contact@helloweb.org with the article URL, the statement in question and supporting evidence. You can also use the HelloWeb contact page. Information about messages and email signup records is available in the Privacy Policy.
